Note: Some of the immigrants claimed Dates of Birth that differed from those on their Italian birth records.
The most common error seems to be the month. I am reminded of an old saying of that generation's, "A hundred years
from now, what will it matter?"
Footnotes:
a. The LoChirco name on some of Sicilian church and civic records is spelled LoCricchio. It is also found as LoChrico
and once as LoGreco. However, the family is consistant in their spelling of LoChirco. Vito was the son of
Salvatore LoChirco and Giulia Tocco.
b. Although her husband frequently asserted that Julia was a year older, and US records confirm, Julia's baptism
record is on the page after her husband's in the Terrasini parish record, making her 10 days younger, born in 1862.
c. Only one source is available on this infant. However, the family history is clear that baby and both parents
died one after the other. Giuseppe was named afer his maternal great-grandfather, Giuseppe Prestigiacomo
m. Agostina Palazzolo. Rosa was the daughter of their son, Vincenzo m. Antonina Palazzolo.
